Simply The Best started with small spit braais and grew — function by function — into one of the most experienced owner-run catering teams in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Our story
From weekend spit braais to functions of 3 000
Simply The Best was started by Lisa Evans as a part-time passion that quickly refused to stay part-time. The early years were spit braais — lots of them — and that discipline of cooking outdoors, on time, for hungry crowds still shapes how we work today.
Three decades later we are an international team with German roots, catering everything from intimate dinners to company functions of 3 000 guests (ask BBD Software), with daily contract catering for a major Johannesburg film studio in between. The business is still owner-run: the person who quotes your function is the person standing at the buffet making sure it's right.
Along the way the family grew — Lesedi, Lesego and Thabiso joined fresh from school and are seasoned pros today, and Justine, who grew up in this catering family, now brings her flair for event management and food styling to every function.
